We read through the well-known children's book: "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" to show the "domino effect" of a series of otherwise relatively minor events.
After the story, we discussed how to link this story to our previous assignment (bubble chart of British actions that led to the American Revolution).
--Who/What does the mouse represent in the story?
--Who/What does the child represent in the story?
--What does the big mess at the end of the story represent?

You can think of the build-up to the American Revolution as a series of dominoes: the toppling of one domino causes another domino to topple, which then causes another domino to topple, etc. Before you know it, you have a mess on your hands!
Similarly, the Revolutionary War was caused by one outrage after another which, when combined, led to a very angry and motivated group of colonists, ready to declare their independence!
In this lesson, we will be studying the many causes of the American Revolution, our country's fight for freedom from England. As we study these causes, we will create a class “still movie” about the timeline that led up to the Revolutionary War.
It's a recipe for...REVOLT!
DIRECTIONS!
Your mission, should you choose to accept it (I would, it's graded), is to create one of the many "dominoes" that led to the colonists wishing to revolt from Britain and start their own country. With your small group, work to create a full-page depiction of the Act / action that your group chose.
Please use visuals, with a brief summary at the bottom of the paper. Put a citation at the bottom (in tiny font), or back, of the paper about where you got your research from.

Resources!
For the "domino," or cause of the American Revolution, that your group chooses, you will create a page, complete with commentary. Your scene will consist of a picture (related to each domino, or event) retrieved from Google images. Your commentary will consist of one or two sentences describing the event and how it led to the American Revolution (at the bottom of the page). Before recording your commentary, you must script what you are going to say.
