Citations, MLA, Bibliographies...Oh My!
Citations, MLA, and bibliographies do not have to be frightening!
When you research properly, you may use other people's quotes and ideas...you just have to give them proper credit! After all, you would not like it if you had a great idea, and someone else claimed that that idea was theirs.
The following resources are to practice your skills to be able to:
--Read a source and SUMMARIZE it, in your own words!
--Cite the source properly, using MLA format!
Proper citations are like street addresses for resources you use in schoolwork. When someone (usually your teacher) wishes to follow "the directions" to go to that source, that person should be able to EASILY find where you got your information from. If you do not cite your sources properly, it will look suspicious and probably lead to consequences for plagiarism.
First, read the following resource regarding the death of South African civil rights leader, Nelson Mandela.
